If you don’t have a net, you can use a bowl or jar. It’s taking water out of the aquarium but also trying to get the fish to swim in the water. You can also use a small net to catch small fish, but it’s not as effective as a large net.
If you have an aquarium with a filter, make sure that the filter is working properly. If it isn’t, then you may need to add a bit more water to the tank to get it to work.

How do I get fish out of my tank?
Scoop the fish out with a net and transfer them to the container. Try to transfer just one fish at a time. Once the fish are in the net, cover the top with your hand so they can’t wriggle out, and then submerge the net in the container and let it sit for a couple of hours. The next day, you’ll want to check the temperature of the water.
If it’s too cold or too warm, then you need to add a little more salt. You can also use a thermometer to make sure your water is at the right temperature, but I don’t recommend doing this unless you know exactly what you’re doing. The best way to do this is to put a small amount of salt on a piece of paper and place it on the bottom of a large bowl.
Then, place the bowl of water on top of it. When the paper is saturated with salt, it should be about the same temperature as the salt water, so you can use that as a guide to determine how much salt you should add. This way, I know I’m adding enough salt to keep my fish from getting sick.
How do you move a betta fish from the cup to the tank without a net?
Light levels should be kept low during acclimation to reduce stress. Allow the cup to float inside the new tank if your betta came in a cup. If your betta came home with something, open the top of the bag and create an edge. The bag will float without the fish getting too hot.
How do you catch a fish with a small net?
Use a scooping motion that goes down and below the fish and then bring the net upwards towards the surface. The fish will swim directly into the net if they run into deep water. If they decide to jump, you have a better chance of catching them because your net is already below their bodies.
Can you take fish out of tank when cleaning?
It’s a good idea to keep your fish in the tank when you clean. You run the risk of accidentally hurting your fish if you remove them. It is possible to keep your fish in the tank while you clean because you don’t need to remove them from the water.

This is because these chemicals are toxic to fish and can be harmful to humans as well. Some aquarium cleaners are available that are safe for use on fish tanks, however, they may not be suitable for other types of aquariums.

How long can a betta stay in a cup?
Since Bettas are tropical fish, a proper heating system is a good idea. They can get sick from poor water conditions if they’re kept in the same tank for more than 48 hours. Bettas should be fed a balanced diet of live and frozen foods.
They should also be provided with plenty of clean water and a place to lay their eggs. If you are not sure what to feed them, check with your local aquarium store for a list of common foods and their nutritional value.
