An angler may use only one line, unless otherwise stated in the regulations. Two lines may be used when angling from a boat in parts of the Great Lakes and for ice fishing in many areas. A fishing line should not have more than four strands.
Rods and reels must be at least one-half inch in diameter and must have a minimum length of three-quarters of an inch. Anglers may not use a fishing rod or reeled line longer than six inches in length.

Is fishing with two hooks illegal in Canada?
You can use up to 4 hooks on a single line at a time if you are fishing areas that don’t prohibit the use of more than one hook on the same line. You may not use a hook that is too short or too long to reach the bottom of the fish.
If the hook is longer than the length of your line, it must be at least 3/4 of an inch in length. Hooks that are shorter than this length may be used, provided that they are not used in conjunction with a line that has a length limit of 3 feet or less.
Can you fish with more than one rod?
You can use 2 rods if you purchase a second-rod validation. If you purchase an additional second rod, you can use 2 rods. If you have more than one rod in your vehicle, it is recommended that you use the same rod for both the front and rear axles.
For example, if your front axle is a 4-wheel drive vehicle and your rear axle has a 5- or 6-speed automatic transmission, then you may want to use a 2-axle vehicle. If you do not have a front or rear vehicle with 2 wheels, or you are not sure which type of vehicle is best for you, check with your dealer.
How many rods can you use for carp in Ontario?
