Most recreational hunting and fishing type license packages are valid from date of purchase in August (August 15 and later) through August 31 of the following year. Commercial type licenses can be purchased starting August 15 of each year, but they are not valid for hunting or fishing during that time period. Can you fish in Oklahoma without a license?
Oklahoma resident or nonresident fishing license is required of all persons who take, attempt to take, or possess fish or other aquatic dwelling organisms by any method in Oklahoma. Fishing on the Red River requires a valid Oklahoma fishing license from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
The following fees are required for the issuance and renewal of fishing licenses: Fishing license fee: $10.00 , except for persons under 21 years of age, who must pay a $5.50 fee for each adult and $1.25 for every child under the age of 21. The renewal fee must be paid in advance of the license expiration date. The fee is nonrefundable and non-transferable.
If a person fails to pay the fee, he or she may be subject to a civil penalty of up to $500. A person who is convicted of a violation of this section shall be fined not less than $100 nor more than 500 dollars and/or imprisoned for a period not to exceed 30 days.
For a second or subsequent violation, the person may also be required to perform community service and pay an additional fine of $250.
How many fishing rods can you use in Oklahoma?
A person may use up to seven rods if they are restricted further under the “public fishing permit” regulations. The license is valid for one year from the date of issuance and may be renewed for an additional one-year period at the discretion of the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
A fishing license may not be transferred to another person or to a person under the age of 18 years, nor may it be issued to any person who has been convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude, as defined in the “Fish and Game Code” or any other crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one (1) year or by a fine of more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or who is adjudicated a delinquent child for committing an act that would be a misdemeanor if committed by an adult.
Any person whose license has expired shall be subject to the penalties set forth in this section. This section shall not apply to persons who possess a valid license issued by another state or the District of Columbia.
