How long does a Texas fishing license last?
Most recreational hunting and fishing type license packages are valid from date of purchase in August (August 15 and later) through August 31 of the following year. Commercial type licenses can be purchased starting August 15 of each year, but they are not valid for hunting or fishing during that time period. The new system will be phased in over the next several years, with the first licenses issued in 2019. The new license will allow anglers to fish for up to 365 days in a year, up from the current limit of 180 days.
