Do you need a fishing license in Ohio if you are over 65?
The bill eliminates resident reduced cost senior hunting and fishing licenses and permits issued by the Department of Natural Resources and instead requires the Department to provide free hunting and fishing licenses and permits for Ohio residents who are 65 years of age or older. The bill also eliminates the DNR’s authority to issue a reduced-cost hunting or fishing license or permit to a person who is not a resident of Ohio.
Ohio residents 65 and older will no longer be able to apply for a limited number of hunting, fishing, or trapping licenses or permits each year. Instead, they will be required to renew their licenses annually or pay a fee of $10 for each renewal.
This fee is in addition to any other fees that may be charged for the renewal of the license, such as a $5 fee for renewing a license that is valid for less than one year, and an additional $2 fee to replace a lost or stolen license.
In addition, the bill reduces the amount of time an Ohio resident may hunt or fish in Ohio by one day per year from three days to two days.
